If you ask 10 people on a flight what they paid for their ticket, you will get 10 very different answers. How to find a cheap flight has become something of a dark art. Use these tips and secrets to find the best deals.

Finding Cheap Flights

There are an abundance of ticket websites out there to help you find the best deal for a flight. There are also additional things that you can do to leverage these tools more than the average traveler.

Here are some insider secrets:

* Try to find cheap flights 21 – 45 days in advance. Other than last minute deals, you will pay more as your date to leave approaches. Sometimes buying too soon months in advance also makes for higher prices.

* Sometimes unsold seats are drastically discounted 2 days before departure.

* Never, ever fly on weekends! Try to fly on a Monday morning, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

* Try not to fly within 7 days before or after a holiday. Check your destination’s local holidays and festivals as well.

* If you are buying a round trip ticket, staying longer than 90 days usually results in a higher fare. Check on just buying two 1-way tickets instead for the extra flexibility. You can also set a fictional return date and pay the change fee later. Caution: deliberately skipping your return flight will get you blacklisted on some airlines.

* You may find cheap flights after midnight EST in the middle of the week. This is when airline databases are updated and sometimes you can grab a cheap ticket that has been returned back to the system.

* Search for flights at all times throughout the day, you never know when a cheap ticket has been released to the system.

* Take a bus www.megabus.com or hitch a ride to the closest major airport hub.

* Make sure your luggage is not over sized or overweight. Check individual airline sites for rules, some charge for a carry-on now.

* Flights with longer layovers usually have lower price tags.

* Early morning redeye flights are more painful bur are usually cheaper.

* Fly into the largest city on the continent you are visiting. Take budget airline hops or travel overland from there to reach your destination. For instance, it may be cheaper to fly into Brussels (a major business hub) and then hitch your way to Amsterdam rather than flying straight there.

* Always use frequent flier programs. It may take years, but the miles DO add up and may come in handy in the future.

* Being as flexible as possible can help you find a cheap flight. Do not specify flight times, number of stops, etc.

* Never buy refundable tickets if they cost more – your backpacking travel insurance may have trip cancellation coverage anyway.

if the credit crunch as put a hole in your pocket also then a good compromise for a place to stay is top mansion situated in udon thani a short walk from the complex and night market / train station

the rooms are well kept and cleaned daily you get cable tv mostly in Thai but there's a movie channel in English something that could be useful on a lazy afternoon

the price as of 2010 is 370 baht per night which is good value the air cons are good and the rooms have decent overhead fans also which are quiet the place get sometimes be noisey

but if you like a drink our two i don't think this will bother you unless your right at the back nearest to the complex as there's a Thai place that plays the typical over load music

there's some useable pc downstairs that take 10 baht coins 30 baht a hour but along the road there are better places the irish clock as a free pc for customers and residents upstairs next to the pool/snooker table
top mansion have there own laundry and they do a good job used it myself many times
theres no lift and if your on the top floor as i was in room 420 and you forget something its a long slog up and down top mansion is not probaley suited to anybody thats not good on there feet unless you can get on the 1 st floor

with plenty of bars a round erwins and nobbis bar right across the road and the sports bar a decent place just to the left your never to stumble down for a cold one enjoy your stay please give feedback good our bad about your stay regards john

from what ive read and heard of late issan province is fast becoming on of the top choices for a large percentage of us falangs to choose to put down a few roots
issan was and as grown more popular but as the hard times have bit in over the last year the credit crunch as exhilarated things

my expectation.s have changed but issan would always be my first choice the pound going back to 70 baht would be nice but the reasons to decide on issan have not changed for me anyway

in England i pay about 5000 baht a month in council tax in Thailand 20 our 30 baht for the bins Thailand 1 Britain 0

in Thailand when i like to watch TV iam not looking over my shoulder for the detector van looking to collect £145.50. about 7.500 baht a year free to air not Thailand 2 England 0

financial concerns are always a large factor but what about general well being iam sure if you can retire early then you should live a more mobile life in Asia not stuck behind the tv life played outdoors

There.s about ten archaeological sites in Thailand and issan that have been announced “Historical Park”. One of those with the least human construction stands in the middle of a beautiful forest surrounding is Phu Phra Bat Historical Park.
and if you would like to stay over there a cabins that can be rented wekkends and holidays as always will be busy

Phu Phra Bat is 3,000- 2,500 years old ancient ruin located near Tambon Muangphan, Amphoe Baanphue, Udon Thani with an area of 3,00 plus rai. Phu Phra Bat means the hill where Lord Buddha’s foot print is installed. There are two of them Prabhuddabat Buabok and Royprabat Langtao.

Besides the two sacred places mentioned above, what has really attracted people to come here are the amazing group of historical natural rock formation that will surprise visitors of how nature works against gravity. The unusual rock formations occurred many million years ago when there was ice covering this area. The ice melted away exposing the cantilever rock formation it is to day.

Since then it was occupied by many people in different periods. Starting from the prehistoric period, people of Neolithic age used it for a scared ground for animism ceremonies. The cave painting of animals was evidence of that period. Then in the Taravati period people started to build and crave on top the natural existing rock formation. Creating more human functional spaces based on the Buddhist religion.

It was a Buddhist scared holy ground similar. Evidences are Buddhist statue made from sculpting large stone wall. Bai-sama; boundary markers surrounding the temple made of carving stone. This is similar to today usage of Bai-sama to mark primary temple or the ubosot of a Buddhist compound.

There about 20 different rock formations. All of them have spaces that relate to human scale. The cantilever rock formations are astonishing, It is a weird and alien like space. Named based to a folk tale of Usa Baros. The tale is well known in the region of I-san, Laos, and Cambodia. When people discovered what is Phu Phra Bat today, they tried to relate it to the tale

the Irish Clock, a very well presented bar and restaurant in udon thani that also offers hotel grade accommodation. We were hungry and thirsty after travelling and went straight in, ignoring, naturally, the calls of 'Hello, welcome' from the other side of the soi.
The interior is plush by any standards, making us feel instantly comfortable. Steve, the landlord, immediately came from outside to see that we were quickly served.
The Western menu is one that would be familiar to Brits but when it says 'home made' it really means it. Thai food is also available. I chose a home made steak and kidney pie with mashed potato and was pleased to see that the vegetables included carrots and cauliflower. Perfectly cooked and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.
